Win Conditions
Fox's Win Conditions:
Overwhelm Young Link with fast pressure, snowballing Young Link into a vortex of attacks, leaving him at kill percent or death. Bait and punish certain habits, and abuse a superior punish game in footsies. Win close up exchanges.
Young Link’s Win Conditions:
Use a combination of normals and projectile reads/punishes. Stay disciplined in disadvantage so that Fox can not snowball. Make the most of combo starters, and win trades/push advantage.

Neutral
What Moves To Watch Out For, When Neutral Is Happening, Main Strategies and Mix-Ups, Spacing, Stage Control.
Neutral Moves: Grab (tomahawk), UTilt, NAir, Dash Attack, Jab, BAir, DTilt, FTilt.
Kill Moves: BAir, USmash, FSmash & DSmash, UAir, Fox Illusion at really high percents.
Kill Confirms: DAir/NAir > USmash, Fox Illusion > UAir.
Fox has a weak grab game, so shielding is a strong option.
Though be wary of his shield pressure, and how he can mix it up. For example, using Jab on shield after landing to stuff out out of shield options.
His NAir and BAir are incredibly safe on shield and great at shield pressuring.
Although you can trade with Fox a lot, you don’t want to push it all the time.
Fire Arrow is best used for punishing Fox’s grounded bursts and retreats (anti-burst option).
Boomerang can be risky, but very highly rewarding against Fox. You’ll want to use it while retreating most of the time (dashback or jumping back). Be careful, though, as Boomerang won’t be as useful for extending advantage due to Fox’s Shine.
Bomb is actually pretty good in neutral, since you also need to spar with Fox occasionally. It allows you to mix-up pressure alongside normals.
GSA is actually a weird anti-air/bait and punish tool in this MU. It’s really easy to just rip GSA and hit Fox with it. Risky, but worth it. Even Toast spammed it vs Light.
This MU is about mixing projectile reads and pressure up close with NAir, DTilt, Grab, Bomb, Jab, BAir, GSA.
Fox is a character that can easily snowball games with his flurry of attacks. It’s very important to not tilt in this MU, as tilting for even a few seconds can mean 90% or your entire stock.
Be careful with rising aerials on shield. Too many and he’ll USmash you out of shield.
Disadvantage
Above Stage, Ledgetrapping, Edgeguarding
Boxing
(How do I escape this situation?):
He’ll be throwing out quick moves looking for an option, such as BAir, which also calls out jumps.
Be wary of Grabs.
Fox is really really good at tech chasing out of a FTilt, NAir, or DAir. He can threaten USmash, reading your option. Using Tech Chase Trapping, he can force a 50/50 between roll in and any other option.
Landing
(How do they cover it? What are my best options):
If he goes for a really high UAir, you can trade with DAir for a stock.
Fox will be using a lot of his UAir here. It can cover a lot and easily net him 50-60%. Challenging with Young Link's DAir is only worth higher up in the air, but otherwise not worth since Fox will win the interaction.
He can use shield pressure upon your landing, or simply catch it with an USmash.
BAir1 is great as a landing + kill confirm tool. Toast used it a ton vs Light.
Bomb can be used to mix up landings.
Offstage
(How Do I Escape This Position And What Do I Look Out For?):
His main edgeguard moves are NAir and BAir.
Fox can also “Shinespike” to send Young Link at an awful angle. I’m not sure if it’s possible to get back even with a jump.
Fox can also FAir dragdown > Shine.
Fox does not have a lot of airtime, so he will usually wait until you are closer to the ledge to initiate an edgeguard. This means mixing up ASA and tether timings are beneficial.
Ledge:
While Fox is standing at roll distance, ledge jump FAir should beat out his NAir.
Use tools like FAir, ZAir, and Bomb to help escape ledge. Ledge jump NAir won’t be winning here, but you can use that time given from losing the trade to pull the Bomb without having to let go of ledge.
Fox will look to kill you with USmash and BAir.
Fox’s FSmash and DSmash hit ledge.
Advantage
What are my best options? What does advantage look like? What mix-ups are available?
Juggling/Boxing:
Fox doesn’t have many ways to land, his DAir doesn’t save him from much, other than that he has his fast speed and air dodge.
He can use Fox Illusion to retreat.
Fox can Shine in the air to mix up his landing times. When juggling Fox, avoid hard commitments such as Pivot Grab so he doesn’t escape with a Shine.
Dash Attack is great for calling out Fox’s landing closer to ledge, and UTilt is decent for catching a jump in at center-stage.
USmash can also be used for that as a hard read.
Take note of their escape options in the corner and punish accordingly.
Fox likes to jump out of the corner, so use Boomerang or NAir or FAir.
Offstage:
Fox Illusion is a straight line to the ledge. Time NAir or FAir for a free stock.
The opponent can mix up between using this really high, towards the ledge, above, or below. All are punishable, semi-reactable. For example if they go low, dropzone NAir them.
Similarly, Fire Fox has a huge punish window, and they can mix up how they use it, though if they are using it, they’re usually at an angle below or directly below the ledge. Hard NAir can beat out Fire Fox.
The window to hit Fire Fox can be weird. On startup, NAir may not work, but during the actual recovery part you can easily NAir it for the stock.
However, the best way to deal with Firefox is a Bomb 2-frame, if there is time to pull one.
Though Fox’s disadvantage is linear and he can’t take too many hits, Fox Illusion and Fire Fox can be attempted several times and they can mix it up every time, though they will usually be limited to lower angles.
Continue pressure and don’t stop until you get the stock or they escape.
In addition to the standard options, Fox has double jump FAir and Illusion.
Fox’s Fox Illusion and Fire Fox are really easy to 2-frame with Bomb, and his startup on Fire Fox gives you time to throw out a move to challenge it if you get the spiking hitbox of Bomb.
Ledge Info:

Miscellaneous
Other Tips/General Notes, Move Kill Percents
Fox used to fall out of ASA. This was fixed in 10.1.0.
FD FThrow @ Ledge %s: 154, 137
FD Milkshake %s: 90-124, 80-102
If you shield Fox Illusion, Fox hits and stops at your shield. Free punish.
Fox’s USmash kills around 92%.
Lasers beat Bomb.
Fox’s USmash does not hit Young Link from under the PS2 platform.
His FAir can drag down into a Jab lock. Be ready to tech.
BAir > AC BAir > DSmash is a shield break setup, so don’t hold shield for too long.
Stages
Battlefield:
Bad. Not great but this is usually the third ban. Fox gets ladder combos, and platforms are oppressive, but it isn't FD or Kalos.
Final Destination:
Terrible. Fox likes flat stages to exert his bait and punish pressure.
Smashville:
Indifferent. Small blast zones help, though being trapped sucks. However, Fox's USmash does not reach the platform.
Town & City:
Good. Platforms help and FD is temporary. It’s easier to edgeguard Fox and low side zones help so much.
Lylat Cruise:
Good. Slants mess up some options Fox has.
Pokémon Stadium 2:
Indifferent. Not terrible, platforms help and what not.
Kalos Pokémon League:
Terrible. Fox gets more out of larger zones and can cover space very quickly.
Yoshi’s Story:
Indifferent. Better Battlefield.
